If you need extended low frequency reproduction and higher maximum volume capability, the SM508 with its 8-inch low frequency driver, 36Hz–20kHz frequency response, 100 Watt RMS power amp and 110dB Max SPL have what you need.
It's perfect when you are operating in a larger studio space, or want to make sure you can audition mixes at higher volumes than the otherwise-similar SM505 can deliver.

The REFERENCE voicing provides scrupulously accurate reproduction, with less pronounced low and high frequencies, for a more honest and reliable mix check than many studio monitors provide.
Finally, the SMALL voicing lets you check compatibility with small speaker systems and mobile devices, which may be the most common listening platform for many audiences.
